Welcome to the CCCI Chow Health Website.

The Chow Chow Club Inc. hopes that you find this site a useful place to resource and contribute information. Our goal is to educate and to increase awareness of owners, breeders and admirers on the health and temperament of the chow chow.

The CCCI Chow Health (formally the OFA) Database is online. The online pedigree database contains all the OFA and CERF and other health information I have collected for the club. I hope that by placing the database online, it will become a useful tool for improving the health of chows. Pedigree information, photos, and health certifications may be added to the database by filling out the "Submit Pedigree" form or by sending the information directly to me.

Chow Chow Research Project Opportunity

Dayna L. Dreger, PhD, a researcher with the National Institutes for Health NHGRI Dog Genome Project is asking for our help in collecting samples for researching the genetic variants for coat type and color in Chow Chows as well as leg conformation (genes that contribute to the normal leg structural variation across and within breeds).

For an explanation of the project go to http://research.nhgri.nih.gov/dog_genome/ Dr. Dreger will send you the DNA kits for blood or saliva samples. They would prefer blood. She is also requesting a photo of the dogs sampled to verify color and coat type which can be sent in digital format to her email address.

This is an excellent opportunity for us to participate in a project of this magnitude with the same group and research that started with the mapping of the canine genome. Please take the time to participate.

Request for DNA kits and any questions should be sent to:
